In my work I have always tried to solve a simple equation: ingenuity in form, precision in color. At first, the form was purely abstract—careful developments of families of shapes. Now, in my recent work, I draw on external stimuli, bringing in the scent of figuration so that, after eliminating what is incidental, I can attempt to unravel its essence.

I look around me and I paint. I look into old Art History books.

There is nothing more radical than applying ordinary paint onto a neutral support.

When neither the support nor the inks are protagonists, all that remains is form and color. There is no gentleness; no touch or texture; no luxury of a fine weave; no unctuous qualities of a specific pigment. Only paint applied,
